The Denver Capitol
While I was graciously given many opportunities to job shadow adults in multiple career paths and fields, the one that was most influential and amazing in my experience was being able to shadow Representative Ransom at the Denver Capitol.
Throughout my time as a high school student, I have had an ever-growing passion and love for politics and government, and this has reflected heavily in my studies and where I have placed my focus in academics and projects. By being able to continue to learn about government, especially on a state level, was fascinating to me. I also got the chance to meet Rep. Titone, who is one of the first transgender representatives elected in the state of Colorado.
But during my shadowing experience, Rep. Ransom gave me the chance to take part of the 72nd House Assembly, where I was able to lead the House of Representatives in the pledge of allegiance. From there, I listened to second and third readings of House bills, and witnessed a multitude of voting on various bills.
